Free Flowing Air Filter

The stock air filter is quite restrictive. Replace is with a free flowing air filter to add a few extra hp and make the throttle response more snappier!

Here's the smoother flowing intake muffler with a free flowing air filter

I removed the original air filter box and replaced it with a free flowing air filter. I purchased it off ebaymotors for cheap. There are many aftermarket free flow air filter suppliers that manufacture filter like these ones:

Quite a selection of filters available!

This is a generic MAF (mass air flow) sensor adapter - notice the slotted mounting holes. It'll fit pretty well anything that has a 3 inch diameter MAF.

Some free flow air filters come with the adapter plate to the mass air flow sensor as it used to be attached directly to the air filter housing. A flexible hose or pipe would be better than the intake muffler as it does restrict the air flow - compare the intake versus the out side diameter of the intake muffler.

Temperature Sensor

In the old air filter box, there is an inlet air temperature sensor. After I tossed the original air filter box, I mounted the air inlet temperature sensor close to the air filter using tie wraps. Here's some better ideas on what to do with it at the Inlet Air Temperature Sensor page.
